Book making tutorial with graphics

This tutorial aims to guide aspirant who are new to the process of making their own books in CTG format and is based on personal experience.
We all love to make our own books and adjust our favorite plays, but I must clarify that making a quality book is a tedious and time consuming task. The quality of the result depends on two key factors. First, the tenacity and time that the bookmaker puts into the tuning of the book. Second, the speed of the processor used. Obviously using a faster processor, managed to get the best plays using deep analysis (Deep Analysis) at the Fritz in much less time. Making books with a slow processor is possible but makes the task extremely long and difficult. To give you an idea with a slow processor and a fast can be a difference of 10 hours in pitch in one particular variant. An explanation of the first steps to make a book can be found at the following link:

To make a CTG book on Fritz, follow these steps:

Open Fritz and immediately press the keys CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-F11 at the same time. This will open a window in the directory where you created your book. In the same window will have to name his new book NEWBOOK.CTG replacing with the name you choose. Then press SAVE and you have created the embryo of your book.

The next step is to give life to that embryo selecting a good database of high quality games and add them to book. At the top of Fritz select the tab (tab) Analysis and then left select "Opennings Books and downs" "Import games". As the diagram below.

Here you have to find the file where the Database with the games you want to add to your book and to enter a window "Import Games" with various parameters. Here you select ECO relative length and press OK.

You have created the foundation of your book. Now comes the tedious part is the tuning or selection and purification of the variants.
The selection of the best move may be based on his personal reasoning, analysis yielding the engine using Deep Analys or a combination of both is ideal. Select the best move is accomplished by following these steps. At once he has selected Fritz opening book you want to edit, select the tab  "Openning Book" panel "Notation + Openning Book".
First right-clicking on any empty part (not on the moves) that tab. This opens an options window where you select the option "Allow Move adding". This allows you to add moves that you select the book making the move on the board as if you were playing.

The other key part is to give weight to each color or play to thereby adjust its priorities. This is accomplished by right-clicking just above the desired move. This opens an options window allowing you to change the color or the weight of each particular play.
Changing the priority of a played through your color: Select "Main Move" to give green to your favorite play or "Do not play in tournament" to give red color to NOT want your engine to play. If you assign to an end, the green is receive a higher preference for the book when it comes to choose which movement to make. If, however, is assigned the color red this move will not be made as long as you have selected the Tournament box Book in the parameters.

Changing the priority of a move through its weight: Select "Change weight" to give every move the weight you want. The weight can range from -125 to 125. The higher the number assigned to the play the more likely to be selected.

Making a book consists of 4 basic points:
1 - Get a good database and import quality games to the book.
2 - Expand the book manually adding moves that you choose to play (either by your own analysis or the analysis that the engine sheds).
3 - Select the openings and variations to play by the book by assigning the appropriate color to each play.
4 - Adjusting the weight of the movements. This process can be done manually according to your personal choice or automatically by Fritz through the experience of the games that are stored in the book.
Any combination of these steps can be applied. His personal experience will give him the favorite combination of these steps.
The basic behavior of any opening book is to recognize a position to decide what move to do the engine. The task of the book manufacturer is to select the best moves and variations of current and ensure that the book of choice for your engine to perform well.

Setting the key parameters:
* "Tournament book" - Tells the book or not to follow the moves selected by you as the best.
* "Variety of play" - Decide if you want the book to play the plays we choose for you or gives you more freedom to decide on other plays.
* "Influence of learn value" - This refers to the weights (Weights) associated movements. If you play a server and a movement gives some bad results, this will be recorded in the book with a negative weight, then the book tends to avoid this move. It is recommended to set this parameter on the far right.
* "Learning strength" - Regulates the rate at which the weight (Weight) of the play to be changed. Or a bad result or after several bad results are needed before the weight of a movement to change.
* "Minimum games" - Regulate how many times a movement must be made in your book before it decides to consider this statistic to make a decision.
* "Up to move" - Until the number of plays you want the book to get to influence your engine.
